We are currently seeking an experienced Consultant Intensivist to work in In Wales on a permanent basis.

This post is for a consultant with full time work comprising an average of 37.5 hrs per week which equates to 10 sessions (typically 7 sessions for direct clinical care and 3 sessions for supporting professional activities (SPAs).
It is desirable that applicants have relevant training and experience in intensive care medicine, although applications from a mostly anaesthetic background will also be considered. We would also be delighted to consider applications from single specialty ICM consultants or those with other second specialties.
Clinical commitment to critical care includes 1 week in 4 as one of two consultants running the critical care unit from Monday to Friday. This week is followed by an uncontracted week when the consultant is not required to be at work (for clinical or SPA activities). It is anticipated that workforce expansion will allow this commitment to reduce to 1 in 6 weeks in future.
Subsequent weeks contain a mixture of theatre lists (for anaesthetists), additional HDU/ICU sessions or other agreed clinical activity. Special interests can be accommodated through job planning. We are a busy, providing specialist services as the regional centre for complex maxillo-facial surgery, major vascular surgery and neonatal intensive care. We also have a cardiac catheter lab on-site providing a 24/7 PCI service.
Successful candidates with experience in anaesthesia will be offered a combination of fixed and flexible theatre lists.
