JOB TITLE:

Speciality Doctor for an Integrated Sexual Health Service

HOURS:

This is a part-time position and the post-holder will be expected to work 6 Sessions  per week ( 0.60 WTE)

 

JOB PURPOSE:

To provide clinical sessions within the integrated sexual health service.

Sexual health services deliver both contraception and management of sexually transmitted infections (and associated conditions). 

The applicant will be expected to provide cover for walk in & wait and booked clinics, including an evening session. The post-holder will be expected to work without direct supervision, as part of a team providing care for patients in accordance with the standards and guidelines set by Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) and British Association of Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH). The doctor will also actively promote good sexual health through the provision of health promotion and health education.

Medical Degree MB ChB

Full registration with GMC

Right to work in the UK

Loc IUD

Loc SDI

DFSRH

Diploma of GUM

Clinical Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

Previous experience of ISH/CASH or GUM is essential.

3 years full time post registration training (or its equivalent on a part time or flexible basis), Demonstrates comprehensive patient management within the sexual health care setting

Ability to work independently in an unsupervised environment

Capacity to apply sound clinical judgement and decision making

Good understanding of clinical governance and quality outcomes

Good understanding of evidence based medicine

Comprehensive understanding of the needs of young people in relation to Sexual Health and specifically relating to safeguarding and Fraser Competence

Competent in basic life support

Recent experience in the specialty (with the last 12 months)

Experience in both SRH and GUM

Experience in allied specialties eg. Gynaecology, general practice, dermatology

Familiarity with Systm1 computer system

Experience in delivery of care to people living with HIV

Experience with genital skin complaints

Audit or published articles

Experience of working with young people
